Practical Spiritual Goals You Can Easily Achieve in 2023

What are Spiritual Goals?

Spiritual goals or Spiritual Wellness Goals, in simple words, are the objectives you set for yourself that help you realize your inner self and derive true meaning & purpose from your life.

  • Spiritual goals help you gain clarity of your life, its meaning, and purpose.

  • They help you in having profound knowledge about yourself and others.

  • They ensure that your mind and body are in good shape.

  • Spiritual goals help you connect better with yourself. Further, they allow you to have better control over yourself.

It is a common misconception that spiritual goals are only for religious people. The truth is, it doesn’t matter whether you follow Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, or you are an atheist. Anyone can have spiritual goals.

We invite you to choose 1-2 of these practices to incorporate into your daily life to help improve your mental, emotional and spiritual well-being!

  1. Dive Deep Inside Yourself.

Identify what you think about yourself presently. Pick up a journal and write down everything you know about yourself, including your current beliefs, disbeliefs, likes, and dislikes. The better you know yourself right now, the easier it becomes to improve further.

2. Practice Daily Gratitude.

You can make it a morning routine to practice gratitude towards God. Thank him for giving you a roof above your head, food to eat well, and a family that loves you.
You can either express your gratitude in your heart or jot it down in a journal.

3. Be Forgiving.

Having past grudges against someone does nothing but fuels hatred against that person and hampers your mental peace. Practicing forgiveness clears all the misunderstandings, heals your relationship, and promotes peace.

4. Let Go of the Things You Can’t Control.

Sometimes, we worry extensively about things that happened in the past or will happen in the future that we stop living in the present. Finally, it does nothing but bring you suffering and never lets your mind and soul relax.

So, This year you can set a spiritual goal to go with the flow and stop stressing out about things you can’t control.

5. Take Part in Social Services.

There’s nothing more fulfilling than helping others.

You can set a spiritual goal this year to participate in social services. If you are busy on the weekdays, you can opt to spend your time in an NGO, animal shelter, or assisted living facility.

It isn’t necessary  to donate money to contribute to those in need. You can start by mowing your elderly neighbors lawn, delivering groceries to your cousin who has health issues, or maybe volunteer at a homeless shelter. Do whatever you can do to bring a smile to others’ faces.

6. Practice Mindfulness

If you find it hard to stay in the present and your mind keeps juggling between past and future, practicing daily mindfulness activities could be a tremendous spiritual goal for you. These mindfulness activities will help you live in the present moment. Further, they will help you realize the value of everything you have right now, which will ultimately give you a sense of fulfillment.

Try these!

  • Observe your breath - Focusing on inhaling and exhaling for 3 minutes.

  • Notice all of the colors around you - If you are at home, notice the color of the objects in your home. Or if you are outside, notice the variety of colors in nature.

  • Unplug - Go for a walk in the park or in your neighborhood and leave your electronic devices behind! Or put them on airplane mode 🙂

7. Spend Some Time Alone.

According to Firstpost, an average person checks smartphone 150 times a day. So, As we consume information every six/six and a half minutes by checking our smartphones, it becomes easy for our minds to be full of chaos.

Spending some time in isolation every day will help you organize your thoughts and declutter unnecessary stuff in your mind.

8. Evaluate Yourself.

The spiritual journey is long. Thus it becomes vital to evaluate yourself during the path and realize whether you are moving in the correct direction or not.

Every once in a while, take time to question your beliefs and actions. Further, identify where you’ve reached in your spiritual journey and what’s your upcoming course of action.
